  My QH has always been barefoot, not sure if age has anything to do with it but she has become very 'tippy toey' lately and I would like to try boots on her, but very confused on sizing/different types/styles and a little wary to spend money if fit is bad or they rub, is there such a service where you can try before you buy or a boot fitter that could assess/ fit/advise best brand/size/fit ? I am in Warrandyte, appreciate any advice/recommendations :)

  Many barefoot trimmers will also do a boot fitting for you. You can also hire a "fit kit" from http://www.easycaredownunder.com.au/ to try Easyboot sizes.

  Angela if you are new to horses it would be really helpful to have a look at the EasyCare website http://www.easycareinc.com/ & the EasyCare Down Under website http://www.easycaredownunder.com.au/. Both have lots of great information about barefoot horses & horse boots. Much better to have your horse barefoot & the boots allow you to go into really rough rocky country if you need to better than being shod. Duncan has some articles on the websites & is an extremely knowledgeable equine podiatrist. Farriers tend to trim as they would for shoeing. A barefoot trim sets the hoof up differently & allows it to function correctly for work without shoes. Duncan has lots of older boots that he is happy for you to try your horse in. Hope this helps.
