Sonoran Dogs, so named due to having been invented in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico in the 60's or 70's, have been popular in American border towns for years. They have only recently began to gain some notoriety in the wider U.S., after having been featured on NPR and a couple of shows on the Travel Channel. Now you can get them right here in Seattle!
So what is a Sonoran Dog?
It is an all beef hot dog wrapped in bacon and grilled to perfection, then placed in a unique Mexican hot dog bread (softer and slightly sweeter than a typical American bun), that has been toasted in butter and spread with mayonnaise. This bacon wrapped dog is then topped with beans, diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, avocados, and a salsa verde made from roasted tomatillos. The brave can have a habanero pepper on the side.
We are in Fremont, right in front of the History House, on the corner of 34th and Troll Ave. We are open Sundays and Mondays from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
