Hi Folks-
I am going to be coming to Prague next week for the first time in my life, and I really want to do some road biking while I'm there to see the countryside. I have a few questions:
I'd like to rent a bike and not spend the high prices I've found online (places catering to tourists), so does anybody have a suggestion of a bike shop that will rent a nice road bike (and have at least somebody on staff that speaks english)? I will be staying in Stare Mesto, just off the Old Town Square, but am happy to transit a bit for the right bike.
I have a tentative route mapped out based on what I could find on mapy.cz, but I had some trouble figuring out exactly which of the suggested roads were rideable (i.e. not dirt - or mud after the upcoming rains). I'm not frightened of riding on roads with cars. If anybody has input on the route I would appreciate it. I've read in some places that riding on roads with cars is not very safe in CR, but I'm used to it (unless it's totally beyond the pale).
Are there any avid cyclists on here that have other route suggestions, or that ride regularly and would let me tag along? Since I'm only going to be there for a week, I would have to get some sightseeing in with my ride. Long distance and lots of climbing are fine.
