Best small businesses to buy a bike? Just wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with local bike shops near Seattle. I'm in the market for a new gravel bike but I don't want the price gouged at REI for a standard bike. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Recycled in the U-District [by the water](http://www.recycledcycles.com/) Check out [Greggs](https://www.greggscycles.com/) too
Howdy folks! Where's the best place to buy a mountain bike. Preferably a place with xl demo's. I've been to a few shops and have been pretty disappointed with the lack of service when your looking to drop 4K on a new bike.
Bike shop recommendations for repairs So I just moved to the Belltown area from Florida. The last post about bike shops was like a year ago... and the recommendations were in Fremont which is fine if that's where the only good bike shops...
but I'm looking for a good bike shop that I can bring my girlfriend's old bike into and they can suggest how I can get it "like new" again but without trying to scam me like stereotypical car mechanics do.
I'm a total bike noob so a shop that isn't afraid to walk me through things is a plus. I'm also looking to buy a bike for me so if there's a different shop with good prices I'd also be interested in that.
Thanks for all the advice!

Bicycle or motorcycle? [Recycled Cycles](http://www.recycledcycles.com/) in the U District is great. Several mechanics, lots of new and used bikes. They're right off the Burke-Gilman. If you don't mind a bit of a drive, I cannot say enough good things about [Woodinville Bicycle](http://www.woodinvillebicycle.com/). They are fantastic at doing fittings, and built some custom wheels for my partner. I think they have a shop in West Seattle, but I've only been to the Woodinville location.

I second the Recycled cycles recommendation. They do good work and can do a a complete overhaul, but they don't up sell you. I've had good experience with Second Ascent in Ballard and Elliot bay cycles near the market.
Friend of mine is looking for a good bike shop in or near the Queen Anne area of Seattle. He is not currently an active cyclist but wants to start doing some group road rides and a little commuting. Greatly appreciate any bike shop recommendations for the Queen Anne area. Thank you very much.

Recycled Cycles people are the greatest. In my recent MS150 ride they were/are the most helpful and caring of all the supporting shops. Make the drive. It's 10 minutes from your home: http://www.recycledcycles.com/

I bought my Raliegh from Recycled Cycles on Boat Street. I'm not super familiar with the area but its kinda close to Queen Anne. Pretty solid solid mechanics. Decent bike selection.

Alpine Hut on 15 th near gilman and whole foods. REI. There is also a recycled cycles in Fremont, on stone way across from evo. And big tree for mountain bikes. And the aforementioned Velo (ex cap hill Velo) on 6 th and roughly Lenora (the Via 6 building).

Unfortunately I don't know the shops in Queen Anne, but I really like Montlake Bike Shop and Recycled Cycles. The former has newer stuff and the latter classic old stuff. Either one is maybe 15 min from Queen Anne via car and both are staffed by good folks.
Does anybody know of a good bike shop in(near) the U-District? I'm looking to replace my fender, maybe get a new light, some other parts. Somewhere where I can get cheap, good parts is ideal. The cheap part is especially important.
