Here's another suggestion---NICOR has an appliance/furnace protection plan that we signed up for. They pay the first $400 required for each repair incident. Their number is 866-799-2674. Good luck.

Ken S. replied:Staci, I would recommend calling Sears at 1-800-4MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663) and purchase a Service Smart Agreement. This provides $500 worth of service for 12 months. It is a "hedge-bet", in that if the tech gives you an estimate for repair in excess of $500, you can decline the estate and use the entire $500 value toward the purchase of a new machine at Sears. I agree with the LG front loader comments (they make Kenmore now).
