Blue Ribbon Braiding, owned and operated by Alyssa Milano, is in its third year of business based out of Lexington, Kentucky and serving local dressage, jumpers, and event riders. The business was started on a whim in July 2015, suggested by good friend Sheila Woerth. Alyssa has been in the horse show world primarily as an eventer for almost 15 years, teaching herself to braid on whatever horses she could get her hands on. She spent four years on the Intercollegiate Dressage Team for the University of New Hampshire not only as a rider and team member, but as the "designated braider" at home shows. Moving into the real world, she spent 3 months grooming and riding for international 4-star eventer, Lisa Sabbe, in Belgium where she could take her skills to the next level. Following her time in Europe, she moved to Lexington, KY and dabbled in the thoroughbred industry as a groom where she spent some time pulling manes for broodmares and yearlings as well as for some retired studs at Old Friends Farm in Georgetown, KY. After getting reacquainted with the horse show world, she realized there was a demand for braiding, clipping, and grooming services in this horse capital of the world and decided to start her own business.
