I've seen a lot of requests for veterinarian recommendations, but I have a specific sort of request... we just rescued a dog from a shelter in Newark on Friday. He's a little love bug and super sweet. However, at his first check-up yesterday, the vet we saw told us that he had multiple tumors that would require major surgery, and seemed to urge us to put him down or take him back to the shelter. He didn't even finish the rest of the exam, or take any bloodwork or do x-rays. Neither option seems fair, so we need a second opinion. Do you guys know of any outstanding compassionate vets in Bloomfield/Montclair/Nutley/Clifton who will examine him, and determine the best course of action? If it's truly hopeless, we're ready to accept it, but not without seeing if someone can give him a full exam and see if he has a chance.
Thanks in advance!
