Does anyone know of any venues in the Halifax area that will hold over 200 people and do not require catering!?

recommendations for hotels/retreat centres for a work conference hi halifax,
i've never been to you, but i'd like to.
i'm in the very early stages of planning a work conference/event, and we want to do it in halifax this year. i'm asking your recommendation for hotels. ALSO, even better: are there any retreat centres in or near halifax that could accomodate an event of about 50-100 people? last year's event was about 60-70 people and we held it in the holiday inn downtown toronto, if that gives you a bit of an idea of budget. also, a meeting space is very important as we spend more of our days there. (it's about a business week long). great food/catering is also extremely important.
all recommendations welcome.
thanks in advance.

I'd recommend White Point on the South Shore. It may be a bit further of a drive than you want but it speaks for itself: http://www.whitepoint.com/ Otherwise, within the city you have the normal big names, Delta, Marriott and Sheraton or local favorites like [the Lord Nelson](http://lordnelsonhotel.ca/) and [the Prince George](http://www.princegeorgehotel.com). All should be able to accommodate you, but I'd give the a call to be certain.
