Spread out over two salons that rest but metres away from each other on Sea Point's Regent Road, Kavanagh's Hairdressing, as the name suggests, does more than simply trim and tweak tresses, it specialises in 'dressing' hair. Hence, alongside an extensive array of other services, the ultra-modern parlour, which calls a number of prominent international celebrities clients.
Despite the upscale focus though, the classic spot endeavours to give great value for money and to accommodate a wide range of budgets. It also aims to stay ahead of the game by sending all hairdressers on monthly courses so that they can keep skills and knowledge current. What's more, unlike many other salons, Kavanagh's caters to the full spectrum of hair types, offering everything from highlights and tints to braiding, weaving and hair extensions. In the same vein, the house of beauty stocks almost every product imaginable – think L'Oréal, Wella, Redken, Kerastase and much more – so that customers from all walks of life can walk in and almost certainly find what they're looking for. Speaking of walking in, while appointments are encouraged, with 28 staff members, the Sea Point boutiques do welcome spur-of-the-moment clients too.
