Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
I am of Indian Nationality, however brought up in Bangkok, Los Angeles, and Singapore. I have been doing Close-up magic for approximately 13 years.
Describe a typical work day for you?
I perform close-up magic from table to table. Usually spending approximately 10 minutes per table showing a variety of effects, adding jokes, stories, and suspense to the illusions i create. I work from 1 to 3 hours depending on event size.
From where do you draw your enthusiasm and inspiration for the job?
I just love what I do, I love seeing the smile and happiness from people when they step outside the world of reality into something they believe is impossible and unique to them.
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
When someone loves what they do, they do it better since it's never considered work for us, just a way of sharing and enjoyment.
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
There was a spectator who had seen a bad magician in the past and found magic to be tiresome and boring. However, the others on the table wanted to see what I had to offer. After the first effect with coins, the first guy perked up and leaned in closer. I continued with a couple card effects and finished up strong. He asked for my name card and booked me for a private dinner at home. It was great to see what good magic can do to people.
