Since 2009, Charles Dunbar has been a presence at anime conventions from up and down the east coast, and even all the way out at Vegas. What drives him to travel such lengths? His love of Japanese culture, and a desire to present that culture to his fellow fans.
Charles gave his first panels (on mythology in anime) at Nekocon in 2009. From there he has been a frequent guest/featured panelist at Anime Boston, Zenkaikon, Tekko, Anime Mid Atlantic, Ichibancon, Anime NEXT, Katsucon, and Otakon, among many other events that have taken him to Michigan (Almacon), Texas (Texancon), Nevada (Otakon Vegas), South Carolina (Banzaicon and Kantaicon), and Ohio (Colossalcon, Anime Punch).
While the bulk of Charles' work revolves around the spiritual worlds of Japan, he earned his MA in Cultural Anthropology studying anime convention culture, and still is quite outspoken about the ever-evolving worlds of fandom today.
