I own a 12 year old cat who developed a severe gum infection. I took her to the British Animal Hospital in Sheikh Zayyed. Dr. Hagar determined that she needed antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicine. I had to take her daily for 5 days for the injection and had to orally give Maxilase anti inflammatory syrup plus 3 times daily Betadine mouthwash. The infection did not get any better so I was prescribed Augmentin syrup which my cat threw up. Dr. Hagar ordered another round of antibiotics i/m. Since my cat was totally stressed being put in her kennel daily (after being coerced for an hour) we decided that I should give her Epiceplin i/m injection for 7 days and Chemotrypsin for 2 days. It was not easy but we managed. Unfortunately the infection got worse. Dr. Hagar recommended dental scaling which would require to put my cat under full anesthesia. Before doing this procedure she wanted to do a complete blood test to see if all the other organs were fully functioning. She was going to take the blood from the jugular vein (???) but there was no power at the clinic at the time. She promised she would call me and schedule the appointment. This was last Monday ad I have not heard anything. My cat is hardly eating, even though I offer many different things (pureed wet food, chicken, rice, potatoes, yogurt and soaked dry food since she want to eat dry food)
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Is there another trustworthy vet in the Giza/Sheikh Zayyed area? I tried Dr. Nevine several times but got hung up on because I do not speak the language. I do like Dr. Hagar and trust her but it seems to be going on for too long and I hate to see my cat suffer like this. After all, being 12 years old she deserves better.
Thank you
