From Juliette:
We live in Atlanta, Georgia. My son (22 years old) is having problems with leakage around his direct abdominal J-tube and we're having trouble finding a local nurse or doctor who really understands feeding tube management. Anybody out there have a really great provider in the Atlanta area? Thanks in advance.

We live in Macon but go to Atlanta for every specialist. Dr. Patel (GI care for Kids) is AMAZING! There number is: 404-257-0799 If you need anything feel free to PM me.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good pediatric GI in Birmingham, Alabama?
Kerriann M. replied:
We live in central East Alabama. My son was in the RNICU at UAB for the first 5 months of his life. His primary diagnosis is cardiac. His cardiac team is still in Birmingham. We have been to Birmingham, Atlanta, New Orleans and Cincinnati to seek help for his GI issues. Ultimately, the doctor in Cincinnati was the one who was able to help him. The doctor from Cincinnati has now moved to Atlanta. His name is Dr. Jose Garza. The website is http://www.ccdhc.org/. He is specialized in the area of neurogastroenterolgy, but handles general as well. I highly recommend him. Worth the drive!
A parent is looking for recommendations for a pediatric GI in the Atlanta, GA area. Any suggestions?

We go to Children's Center for Digestive Health Care (CCDHC.org). They have a few locations, we see ours near Scottish Rite. Our doctor is Dr. Jeffery Lewis. I've always loved how when my daughter was at her worst, I could call nurse and she always got back with me and helped anyway she could.
Does anyone have a recommended Pediatric Gastroenterologist? The one we go to, doesn't seem to know what the heck he is doing, and I am not getting any better, but worse it feels like. Thanks!
Lisa G. replied:
Eilen, go see Dr. Stanley Cohen at Children's Healthcare. We have used him for Hayden for years. He is excellent. Feel better! 404-257-0799
Can anyone recommend a pediatric gastroenterologist? We saw Dr. Ifandeake at Fayette and he was terrible! Would like some personal recommendations now.

Ethan saw Dr. Lewis at CHOA at Scottish Rite. We were pleased with him. 404-257-0799. Not sure if he comes down this way or not. We always went up there.

No personal experience per say other than what patients used to tell me. When I was doing referrals we mostly used ccdhc (gi care for kids) http://www.ccdhc.org/ or Emory Children's center would be your other option. http://www.emory-childrenscenter.org/default.aspx?id=61 Ccdhc has a Fayetteville location. Dr Pilzer goes there and I think dr Lewis maybe.
