Gastroenterologists in Atlanta, GA

Physician here. If you don't have a primary care doctor, start there. That's part of the reason why they exist - to see if the problems that you have require referral to a specialist. Trips to the ER are a way to get tests done and rule out life-threatening illness, but tests are not a diagnosis (or lack thereof). You need somebody who can spend time learning about your history and consider your symptoms in the larger setting of your health. A primary care doc may end up referring you to a GI doc, but it would be a GI who your primary care doc trusts, and who now has helpful information about your history and past workup that you alone wouldn't be able to provide. Just my two cents.

I use the emory clinic. They have a group of doctors who are all apparently amazing. Mines okay I just feel like she's really young and likes to try "new wave" types of medications. Good luck!

I have been seeing a GI that my PCP referred and I am not satisfied with her. When all of the tests she ordered came back normal she didn't have an answer or advice except to continue the medication. Ive been on the medication for over 4 weeks no with no relief. I understand that can be hard for some doctors, but I don't feel like she is taking my pain seriously. I only go to the ER to get relief from the pain, which she has failed to provide me. Just kind of at my wits end with this situation. I appreciate everyones advice.

Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates-- Hetal Karsan. I struggled with stomach issues for years, and had been labeled with "IBS" but without any relief. I was referred to him about 3 years ago, and so far my experience w/ all the physicians in that practice are pretty good. I've had the whole gamut of tests, but I stopped taking acid reflux medications and decided to not take an SSRI for stomach spasm/pain issues as was prescribed after they pretty much couldn't find anything wrong. But they are a good practice facility-- but I never had super severe pain so hopefully you find a good DR soon!

Emory doctors have little motivation to provide good patient care. It won't get them promoted and they make the same salary regardless of how hard they work. Emory is highly overrated.

Dr. Bradley Creel with Atlanta Gastroenterology was a lifesaver. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Neal Osborn - Wellstar, offices in Douglasville and Hiram if thats closer for you. Mayo Clinic trained and all around nice guy.

The only local celiac expert is Dr. Cynthia Rudert. Just google her. She does not accept any insurance. I've not gone to her- I went to a holistic doctor instead so can't speak from experience as a patient.

I've seen Dr Rudert. 10 yrs ago she did the blood work and the endoscopy. She's fantastic. Worth the money. She's very thorough but there may be a wait.

I see Dr Taz at Atlanta Holistic as well. Think we all struggle w dr's here in Atl and most of us have reached out and see holistic dr's to best address the multitude of symptoms that go hand n hand w celiac.

Dr Rudert is known across the country. She is super compassionate and will put you on the right path. Her assistant Glenda, is a sweetheart!

I had Doctor Steinbook. He is awesome. Down to earth, good bedside manner, smart...plus a sense of humor!
