I'm in great need of a personal recommendation to a holistic dr/ pediatrician specializing in Autism treatment ( blood/ metal/ food allergy) testing. Will travel if not in the Asheville area. Thank you very much!!

Family to Family does not do the type of allergy testing I'm referring to. You have to go to an allergist for that, and we make the drive to Tennessee. We actually have an allergist here that we use for adult allergy shot injections, but I don't take my children there - feel free to message me and I can explain why, I would just rather not on this thread. Family to family can order a blood allergy test through mission (which we also did). I found both helpful, as the blood test picked up one thing that the back scratch test did not that was definitely a problem. So coming from a mom of kids with allergies I would do BOTH if you just want to cover everything. According to my allergist (who is most famous for a bee study he did at John Hopkins, fascinating guy) back scratch testing is the most reliable for food allergy. I have found that statement to be accurate with our family. I love family to family and I love Dr. Susan, but I would at least give Pienkowski's office a call if you want to have all the information you can in front of you on this. Ask to talk to their practice manager if she is there. I cannot remember her name, but she has worked with him for years and will be able to answer questions accurately. I have been in there before when they are testing children with developmental delays, etc. and their practice very much understands that there are links between these things and allergy. If you make an appointment, make sure it is with Pienkowski himself. The other folks there are great, but for what you are looking at you want to be able to ask him the questions directly. Their website is pretty awful, but here's the link: http://allergyclinictn.com/ Not technically a holistic type practice, but he is the type of doctor that will tell you to avoid X foods to avoid the issue in the first place, rather than take a medication to treat the reaction. (But the metals stuff, etc., most certainly Family to Family. They are going to have a lot of options for you to look at there, and good local resources for further treatment)
