Dr. Bob is great!

Dr Bob Overholt! Man, I was missing Knoxville after seeing The Dirty Guv'nahs tonight, but you cured that for me! Don't miss allergies!
G B. replied:
I did holistic treatments when Dr. Overholt's office failed me! In fact they told me they were scared they would kill me with treatment! I did NAET http://www.naet.com/patients/patientshome.aspx
C H. replied:
Or Jack Daniels + Benadryl?
Tatum L. replied:
I didn't have great luck with Overholt and my pcp recommended I get a second opinion from Dr. Ellenburg. He is awesome...and is an immunologist as well. Went way back into my medical history and really, really listened to me. Made connections from having mono in high school to allergy issues today, and connected dots no one else ever had. I highly, highly recommended him.
Roger F. replied:
I went to the Overholt (Dr. Bob} group with good results.
David M. replied:
Karthik Krishnan gets my vote. Treated my stepson.

Alesa G. replied:
LoL - Trent Steele - the above post reminded me that I met Dr. Mark Overholt on -- where else?? -- the dock at Concord dog park. He was very cool and understated once he knew I realized who he was.
Alesa G. replied:
Dr. Kodoth - Allergy Associates in Dowell Springs. Love her and also her partner Dr. Jane Conley, with whom I went to school. Smaller practice - two excellent doctors.
Missy N. replied:
oh yes! Dr Overholt did a major sinus surgery on me VERY long time ago... and i swear it changed my life.
Danna E. replied:
I've not used an allergist here but I, too, have heard only good things about Dr. Overholt.
Lisa H. replied:
I wouldn't go to Dr. Overholt unless you want to be spoken to as if you don't have a brain cell in your head. I found him very patronizing
Anita A. replied:
They are three Dr Overholts. Dr Bob (father) the allergist. His son Dr Mark Overholt the ENT and his daughter Dr Meredith Overholt (Dermatologist). I agree with Lisa Hudgens comment on
Any recommendations for a Pediatrician in the Knoxville area that "gets" food allergies and the need for an allergist??
Sheri J. replied:
We have been seeing Dr Fogle (KPA-Farragut) since our son was 1. He completely "gets" food allergies and values our knowledge on the subject as well.
Carrie M. replied:
Dr. Gregory Swabs at Knoxville Pediatric Associates.
Lynne F. replied:
I've never had an issue at KPA. Our pediatrician is Dr. Roberts but the others have been supportive. Dr. Yen was great when our second was born and I was on an elimination diet for nursing (our oldest was on Neocate from 7-18 months).
Recommendations for an allergist in Knoxville? My current doc keeps me waiting an hour then sees me for 5 min.
David L. replied:
I really liked Dr. Robert Overholt at the Allegory, asthma and sinus center. He was extremely thorough and hugely helpful.
Courtney B. replied:
Dr. Overholt was my allergist during my teenage years. Went to him for about a decade. I don't have anyone else to compare him to. I saw him once a year unless i got really sick and saw his nursing staff about every week for shots.
For moms withs kids who have allergies... What kind do they have? What helps? ( like dairy... If cooked out the protein is it handled better) ? Are they on meds?...
Lauren N. replied:
My son was diagnosed with food allergies at 15 months. He was allergic to wheat, eggs, peanuts, treenuts, and all dairy. After staying away from the foods for a year and a half he outgrew the wheat allergy and after another six months he was able to eat dairy and eggs but only if the eggs were baked into products. We are staying away from pure eggs and peanuts and treenuts right now but he goes next Tuesday to see if he has outgrown anything else. The only medicine he is on now is Cyproheptadine but he was on Gastrocrom for close to a year to repair damage that the allergies had done to his intestines. Dr. Singer at Knoxville Allergy and Asthma Affiliates is a really good allergist that's who we have seen for over 2 years.
We need a good allergist for Lisa in the Knoxville area. It can be an adult specialist or a pediatric. We need to get her checked out. Any suggestions?
Debbie B. replied:
A lot of people like Dr. Schlactus and we liked him. As far as the testing he said Kevin out grew his allergies but he still stuggles with the seasonal ones.
