Hello all! I need recommendations for a good sports medicine doc. I have been running for about 14 months and am experiencing some issues. I've got
your basic IT Band issues but a few months ago I developed some numbness in my left arm and foot. I've got some degeneration in my cervical spine but nothing awful. I went to Raleigh Orthopedics and was not too happy with them. I had Xrays, an MRI, EMG & nerve conduction tests, and saw thejr podiatrist. They found nothing wrong with me and the spine doc told me to stop running. He gave me a muscle relaxant and told me to come back to see him if it gets worse. I have since gone to a chiropractor several times and that did help but now I'm noticing trouble with my feet. I feel like my running shoes aren't offering enough arch support so I went back to Fleet Feet to see what they recommended. The sales person noticed that I supinate on my left side (the side with all of the issues) and that my right arch is starting to fall.
I am hoping to find a doc/medical practice that will look at me as a whole. Raleigh Ortho took such a compartmentalized approach and while I like the chiro I'm seeing and his more holistic style, I'd like to find a place where they can maybe do a gait analysis and look more at the biomechanics of my movement. Can anybody recommend a great practice that deals with runners?
