I started training as a chef at the age of 15, I passed NVQ Levels 1 - 3 in General Hotel and Catering. Before I was 16 I had already decided the direction I was going to take and this was to specialise in desserts, pastries and cakes and I went on to complete NVQ level 4. (Confectionery & Patisserie) Alongside this I also completed 3 advanced sugar craft and cake decoration courses with Sugar Celebrations. I worked as a trainee Pastry Chef for a number of years in local hotels and restaurants before becoming the Pastry Chef at The New Inn, Coln St Aldwyns and later moving on to The Bear of Rodborough where I held the same position. This was followed by Drakes Restaurant of Fairford and then The Amberley Inn Stroud where in time I became Head Chef. I soon realised that what gave me the most satisfaction was producing delicious cakes and desserts so started making them for friends and family.
Looking for recommendations for a cake maker for July please? Does anyone know if the lady who used to have the shop in town still makes cakes to order?
