The lockwood serviceman came to repair our refrigerator icemaker. He looked in the frig., opened the drawers and declared that he needed to order a control board. I asked him what made him suspect the control board, he stated that he has been repairing appliances for over 25 years and knows that the control board is usually the problem. He left after perhaps 10 minutes. I was very dissatisfied with the service so I called the office and complained that he did not do any diagnostics. The lady informed me that it was the owner who serviced my refrigerator and that she would have him call me. I talked to the owner the next day and he offered to not charge me for the service call but assured me that he was confident that it was the control board. We were going on vacation so I made an appointment to install the control board the following week. Before we left for vacation my wife turned the refrigerator temperature up a few degrees as items were freezing. When we returned after 4 days, the icemaker was working again. I called to cancel the appointment. To my surprise I received a bill for over $50 for the service call. I could not believe it, he spent maybe 10 minutes, did not do any diagnostics, and made a guess as to the problem (which I believe was wrong as the unit started working again after we raised the temperature). I am very dissatisfied with the service as I believe that if he had taken the time to check for the problem, he would have found the real issue. I feel like I got nothing for my money. Call a real repair shop that will take the time to diagnose the problem, no one, even with 25 years’ experience can determine the problem by opening the door.

We have used Lockwood Appliance Repairs (225-7882). Honest and professional. But they do charge you for a service call - an automatic ($50 or so, been a while since we've used them, so their current rate may be different). You might want to just buy a new microwave at this point.
