Where do you go for a small town getaway? My girlfriend and I want to go somewhere quiet for a weekend and we're wondering where to go around southern Wisconsin. We would like to stay somewhere in/near a town that has your typical small town downtown and maybe some parks/trails nearby, but we're mainly looking for bed and breakfast or airbnb recommendations.
If you've had a really good experience that fits the context, I'd love to hear about it!
Thanks for all the great suggestions :)

Throwing in a plug for my home town and the lovely bed and breakfast that exists there: https://www.westphalmansioninn.com. My parents own a shop downtown and our 15,000 person town is quaint but had a good nature reserve with pike lake, good food on Main Street, good hotels - overall nice getaway in a small cute town.

Lake Geneva! Lots of activities and little shops plus they have many winter sports like skiing you can do there

Lake Geneva has some of this stuff, cute little downtown and they are happy to have people during the non-tourist season
