I get glasses OOP and contacts through insurance, but if you are anything like me you need both because you need to give your eyes a break from your contacts. If anyone has any good eye doctor or eyeglass order recommendations let me know. I just want to make sure I get the best deal. Thanks!

  READER QUESTION from MRL: I am looking to take our three children (14, 11, 6) in for a routine eye exam. No one in the family - including me - currently has glasses. I’m suspecting one may need them. We don’t have eye insurance. In town we have ShopKo, Walmart, Target, Vision World. We also have Costco and Sam’s Club – but we’re not members. I’m wondering who offers the best deal cost-wise? who offers the best repair guarantee? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated (is the anti-glare worth the price? should I get the youngest one two pair or will one cut it?)

  I've only got my daughters glasses from Walmart. She does need them. They have a great warranty 12 months no questions asked replaced. I've bought from costal.com as well and the kid glasses just didn't hold up to a kids roughness on them.

  My family has 5 out of 6 who wear glasses. We have recently tried some online places and we'll never pay over $65 for our glasses again. The first pair is free with costal.com and there are a couple of other places we have tried. Designer frames, really inexpensive and easy to make sure you get the right fit. Mine were $10 because of the astigmatism and special coating I got for glare so I could drive at night.
