  Obviously look amoung willows. I read somewhere that they figured the usual way in ingress into the willow was on branch injuries, usually in young clumps growing close together where animals walking through break lots of twigs. I've wondered if finding one would allow you to spread it by taking cuttings or alternately chopping up an infected branch and using it as a soak for cuttings. Keep me apprised of your results.   We had a local guy come out and fix our fridge. That was $200 instead of a new fridge. But he said that the control board stoves were expensive. Usually the only thing was to replace the whole keyboard. $500 or so. That said: Phone around. Check the yellow pages.   What exactly is wrong with it? Get the exact model number. (Usually on the back, or on the lip of the oven door, or on the rim around the storage drawer) Google the problem and the model number, and find out if other people have this problem, and what they did about it. Next go to Kitchen Aid's web site, and plug in that model number, and see if you can bring up a parts list. While you are here see if you can find a service guide on how to dissasemble it. Then search for that part number. Fair number of companies that make 3 rd party (not you, not the manufacturer) parts. E.g. The glass cover for the light in my oven from the manufacturer costs 42 bucks. From a third party guy it costs $7 bucks. In addition: The guys at the Sunnybrook dump generally have been pretty laid back about people salvaging parts off of appliances, as long as they don't leave a mess. That dump is open on Wedsnesday and Saturday. Bring a case of beer, set it on the table, casual like, and ask if you can go thorugh the appliaces looking for your kitchen aid controller. This is not necessarily a win, as chances are that a bad controller is why the stove is at the dump. Meanwhile, back at the ranch: 1. Go to Value Village and pick up an electric frying pan, and /or a 2 burner electric hot plate. 2. Make sure you have family size pans that will fit in your microwave, and your toaster oven. Your overall strategy is to be able to take three days to fuss around with bits of stove everywhere and not have the family starve. All in all, you can probably do this for $100 and 4 days of your time spread out over two weeks. If you are a well paid professional, it's not worth your time. If you are a churchmouse working two jobs, you likely don't have the time. If you are somewhere in between, or just plain ornery, this may work. Keep us posted.   Multiple Strings in your bow. *WE* have two stoves in our kitchen. One is a fairly new one. The other is a Beech Wood & Coal Range built in the 1920's and still going strong.
