  Hotel del is awesome, but my recommendation would be the La Jolla Cove Suites http://www.lajollacove.com/ I stayed there in January. Older hotel, but it has been nicely updated and it was clean and well-maintained. We had a two bedroom suite, which was really reasonable on Expedia. Breakfast is included. Not super fancy, but passable. It is directly across the street from the water and a nice big park. You can walk to see the seals in the cove. The hotel is in the heart of La Jolla. You can walk to restaurants and shops and is also halfway between LEGOLAND and downtown San Diego.
