  Now, I know I sound really thick, but I need some log burner advice. We hav been in our house for about 12yrs. The previous ppl put in a log burner which I believe was never used. We've never used it, but I wd like to have a go. But, I have no clue how to. Does the pipe that goes from the back go all the way up the chimney? Would I need to get the chimney cleaned first?

  Hi, I have a wood burner and an open fire and I use Preens. They are very good and it is £30 for one chimney. And don't let people tell you you need it lined, your chimney that is, you dont. I have a small pipe coming out of my burner and then straight into an open chimney. So long as it is swept at least once a year it will be fine. Burning hardwood stops a build up of resin and tar also, but its more expensive than softwood. www.preenchimneysweep.co.uk

  Chimney sweep not too bad. Ring for a quote. Then put 1 firefighter, a few stick too if you have them then logs and/or coal.

  Make sure whoever sweeps your chimney, provides you with a certificate for your insurance, Bridgnorth chimney sweeps are very good , and reasonable
