  I tried buying local the past few years but most seeds were cross pollinated or outright didn't grow well. It might have been just bad luck. But I always go with West Coast seeds. Fool proof.

  If you're in Canada, I bought some super hot seeds from Atlantic Pepper Seeds ([https://www.pepperseeds.ca](https://www.pepperseeds.ca)) they've got a great selection. Also in BC is a company called West Coast Seeds ([https://www.westcoastseeds.com](https://www.westcoastseeds.com)) that have jalapenos, and habaneros (though I'm sure you can get these seeds anywhere). If you're in Canada you might have difficulty importing seeds from out of country. As such I've simply avoided ordering from the US or elsewhere.

  Hi all! I'm new here and new to gardening. We made a small box garden last year. Where is a good place to buy organic veggie seeds, starter plants? I found a place online that sold cool heirloom organic seeds, but the shipping from California was double to cost of my order! Also, for you others living in the Abbotsford area, what kinds of veggies are you growing successfully? My celery last year grew tall but was thin and wimpy. My onions never grew. Carrots and lettuces were only so-so, not very big. Kale, zucchini and snap peas did well. Do you need a greenhouse or covered area to grow peppers and tomatoes?

  westcoastseeds.com is local and has a huge selection. You can check them out online or drive to ladner. For tomatoes and peppers they do not need a greenhouse nor cover but peppers would like the added heat and tomatoes do best when no water gets on them (blight is brutal). Onion success depends alot on how and when you plant them as well as what kind.
