I am looking for a way to give wifi access to the internet to a group of ~50 laptop and tablet users in a conference venue where there is no wifi or wired network access currently available. Anyone know of a company that would rent such equipment/service for a reasonable price?
I really like the WiFi "hotspot" ability of my droid phone, but the limit is 8 connections. I need a "mega-hotspot".

You could try a mobile broadband USB card with a Cradlepoint router (we've got this little guy: http://www.cradlepoint.com/products/small-business-home-office-routers/mbr900-cellular-router - can use a USB broadband card and can be connected to Ethernet, so it's useful even when you're wired). Virgin & T-Mobile I think both have pay-as-you go plans (not sure about the reception where you're planning to be). We've been using a Pantech modem from http://www.millenicom.com/ with a Cradlepoint router for the past few years and the combo's worked a charm all over the country. Have never gone over the 20G limit, even after heavy usage for a full month (note that there are two of us, not 50, though...). Caveat that performance will likely be pretty abysmal with 50 users on laptops (plan on multiple users' laptops deciding to auto-update mid-conference!) and you'll likely exceed any bandwidth caps the mobile broadband fob may have with that many devices connected to the Cradlepoint. :)
Looking for a new mobile phone service. Tmobile is terrible anymore. Cannot get a signal or one the edge. I need a dependable carrier as my husband has had health issues. Thanks in advance.

Go to Millenicom.com. Cheap and it uses the Verizon footprint. Never had a problem for years.

Get Verizon through Millenicom.com and get unlimited for cheap. They've been charging me $59.99/month for years now and never charged extra for going over. I have the 10 gig plan and I know we've gone over a few times and they don't charge extra. I think it may be $69.99/month now, I don't know, but as long as I keep my plan, they don't raise the cost on me. Kind of unheard of these days.
I can not depend on #SPRINT anymore for hotspot, cell service in #Tallahassee maybe they don't know we are the Capitol of Florida, or that we have hills or that we exist. So,.. I need a my-fi ... what company do you recommend.

We've been using them for a year now. http://millenicom.com/
Chuck E. replied:
They can not advertise for any of the other companies, but they will tell you when you call. The hot spot is on the same device you would get directly through Verizon, a Novatel 4620 LE, I think. Last time I checked, you only got 5 G a month through Verizon for the same price, vs the 20G at Millenicom. No contract also.
Chuck E. replied:
You can get 5 times the data allowance on the Verizon network for the same price or less by going through Millenicom. They buy Verizon data in bulk and resell it with no contract.
