  Recommendations for dog training in Edmonton? Hi there, As the weather is warming I want to get my boyfriend's miniature schnauzer trained. Preferably outdoor classes socially distanced as opposed to online. I'm looking for recommendations for a trainer who has experience with very stubborn, loud, and high energy dogs. My boyfriend has not trained him in any regard and he is friendly but dominant, and getting more aggressive over time (baring his teeth at me, etc). I've trained a lot of dogs over the years but they were food motivated and lower energy, so my methods have not worked with him (and my boyfriend needs to learn how to train him).

  Thanks again to all who gave recommendations for a vet. We ended up going to Mactaggart Vet clinic, and their staff is awesome. They were so gentle with The Dude, even though he wasn't interested in having his claws clipped, or having his broken claw bandaged. The techs were great working with him, and loved on him so much. Now I am hoping that you can offer me another recommendation. I'm wanting to do some obedience training with him, and I was wondering fi anyone has used the basic obedience class at Sadie's K9 Stay and Play? I grew up in a very "ceasar millan" type family, and don't want to train him this way. I think that he needs a more gentle touch. If you have a recommendation of somewhere better, I'd be interested in hearing it. We cannot afford in-home lessons. $200 for 6 weeks (or more) is about all we can afford. Thanks in advance!

  The humane society program for bullies is terrible and a joke (from experience). I have heard k9 misfits is the place to go from numerous people here.

  [K9 Misfits](http://k9 misfits.com/) Is always my top choice, followed by [Soul 2 Soul](http://www.soul2 souldogtraining.com/) as they are both applied behavior consultants and have a wealth of knowledge and experience. www.dogspaw.ca is great, the Edmonton Humane society has a free behavior hotline that you can call and ask questions as well. All of these places are science based positive reinforcement and totally force free.

  K9 Misfits. She specializes in Bully breeds, is highly educated and awesome. Please do your research before choosing a trainer.

  Using a trainer from Paws or 780, and you will learn how to correct your dog and use aversives and physical corrections which is not recommended IMO as there is the potential for negative fallout from doing that.. Your dog will only be trying to avoid corrections with that method and you want to build your relationship on trust, not coersion. Bilinda at K9 Misfits is amazing, is extremely experienced with bull breeds, and has immense canine behaviour education. She also is wonderfully supportive and is very adapt at explaining why using force in training is not necessary and can be harmful. Very important when choosing a trainer that you investigate the method, and all science based educators are very transparent with this, if they use clickers, food rewards and teach your dog what to DO instead of what not to do....you are in good hands! :)

  A little late to the post, but we have a fear aggressive pup and are working with Bilinda Wagner (K9 Misfits). Private consult and now group class. She is a positive reinforcement trainer. Her techniques and style are working wonders for us and Ellie. :)
