  Claudia S. wrote: Might be a good dog trainer but her business acumen is significantly lacking. I am writing this review and we haven't even started a course yet, only paid a deposit. And after this deposit experience, I shall never take a course from her nor ever recommend this company. She is extremely slow to respond to emails, if she decides to respond at all - despite posting on her website that COMMUNICATION is part of their overarching philosophy Also, said she will refund money and hasn't yet despite repeated attempts to contact her to find out when she plan to do this.   Can anyone recommend a dog trainer for me to use. I have a rescue who I've spoiled and now I'm dealing wit the aftermath of my poor choices i.e sleeping in the bed/couch whenever she wants. I plan on getting a second dog and feel I should try to correct the behaviours I've created with my first so I don't pass it on to the second. I'm looking for a reputable trainer that does private one on one sessions.   Im looking for a non expensive recall class for my 3 year old husky. Shes great off leash untill she sees a rabbit, squirrel, goose.... and she was beaten up a couple times by dogs so she doesnt like when new dogs come straight up in her face. She growls and shows her teeth. So id like to be able to call her once away and she comes (that is rude for a dog to come up to another dogs face like that)

  I was at the pet show and something I noticed is a lot of the trainers there had their dogs on leashes and they were barking but I noticed that Cultured Canines booth had 3 dogs - 2 of which had leashes on but were laying on the floor beside them and 1 without a leash but none of them were barking or wandering. I was really impressed. From that and experience I would highly recommend them. Keep in mind a reminder that this is my observation and opinion only.

  I adopted a dog who came off a res and was told he'd never be able to go offleash because his prey drive was so high. I thought that I'd always have to walk him onleash but, after taking Cultured Canines COOL course and utilizing the free drop ins to focus on recall, I can have him offleash now. Last summer, he was chasing a rabbit and I thought FOR SURE I'd never see him again. I used the "stop" command taught in the course and he literally stopped dead in his tracks, turned around and came back to me, leaving the rabbit to get away. I remember calling my mom and crying about the situation and how I couldn't believe MY DOG, the one with the CRAZY PREY DRIVE just chose me over a bunny. It was the single greatest moment of trust I've ever had with him and absolutely solidified in my mind just how important building the relationship with him through the training was. If he hadn't trusted and respected me, he would've kept chasing and I likely wouldn't have him today but because of everything we learned in that training course, he's not only still alive, we have a stronger bond than ever. I can't recommend the Cultured Canines COOL course enough. It's made my relationship with my best friend better and has kept him alive and filling my days with joy.

  Cultured canines. I took Beth's class with both my dogs. After taking 2 other sets of classes and an in home trainer this one is the one that made a difference. It's all out doors which is better than indoors cause of all the real life distractions they encounter during training!

  We've got a 9 month old German shepherd/lab cross and lately she's been quite snippy. When she's sleepy or sleeping, if you pet her she will growl and nip at you. Not hard but she shows her teeth for a second. It's bugging me because otherwise she's the sweetest dog. Why is this happening? Anyone heard of this?   My husband decided yesterday to adopt the 4 year old Maltese that we have been fostering for the last week or so. Now I have just a have a couple of questions. Would you recommend training classes for her or just going to a dog park in order to socialize her with other dogs? Right now she appears to have never had any interaction with other dogs and I am interested in doggy day care for her but want to socialize her first. We are taking her to our vet this week for a check up but I'm sure she has limited to no vision out of one eye. I know how to train a fully sighted dog to do stairs and such but I'm struggling with how to get her comfortable with them as her depth perception is off. The other thing hubby didn't think about is the fact that we are going on holidays for a week the first week of June. I would like to find someone to watch her in their home if possible. Any suggestions?

  I'm looking for rehabilitation centres in Calgary that work with dog-aggressive dogs. We have an adult male Rhodesian boxer that has never been properly socialized with humans or other dogs. I am working on the human reconditioning, but I don't have access to enough stable dogs to work with him much on the canine end of things. I need a centre, not an individual. He needs to be exposed to a LOT of dogs and most individuals don't have much more access than I do to a different group of stable dogs on a daily basis. I also will NOT be sending him with anyone or to anyone - he doesn't leave my sight for one second. I would prefer owner-as-handler sessions, at least primarily. Anyone know anywhere that rehabilitates at this level? The more names, the merrier. :)

  ISO recommendations for a place for basic obedience and agility classes for my 1 yr old Jack Russell. My daughter (teen) would be her 'trainer' as it is something she is very interested in doing. Pup is fairly well behaved but would benefit from basic obedience before we try agility. Would prefer NW or North but willing to extend our area for a good place (without having to sell my soul would be good too!)
