Naya Jeevan’s health plan consists of a basic discounted health-insurance plan, wrapped in a unique, hard-to-replicate shell of value-enriched services (delivered through NJWO). The health plan provides annual health coverage of up to USD 1,500, benchmarked to cover the cost of heart bypass surgery at its nationwide network of 190+ quality, private hospitals.
Value-added Services
Naya Jeevan provides the following value-added services through its sister non-for-profit arm, Naya Jeevan Welfare Organization (NJWO). Naya Jeevan pays NJWO to deliver these services to its member beneficiaries at a negotiated rate of $2/person/year, under which beneficiaries may avail themselves of any of the following services.
Customized Group Orientation Sessions Low-income beneficiaries are often uneducated and do not understand health insurance or the processes involved in it. Customized group orientation sessions help beneficiaries understand the product, allowing them to optimize the use of their health cards, make and receive claims.
OPD Referrals to subsidized/discounted clinics As outpatient (OPD) consultation is not routinely covered by health insurance plans in Pakistan, NJWO has negotiated agreements with a select group of discounted clinics nationwide to deliver outpatient services to its beneficiaries.
24-7 Access to a Naya Jeevan Welfare Organization (NJWO) Health-line Many insurance underwriters offer 24/7 medical hotlines. However these are primarily used for claims assistance. NJWO actively markets its medical tele-doctor helpline for OPD consultations for low-income beneficiaries, for problems ranging from routine colds to more serious conditions that may require physical examination.
Annual Medical Screenings conducted at client site Every Naya Jeevan beneficiary is entitled to a free medical screening within the first 90 days of enrollment. The medical screening is conducted at the client site by NJWO’s in-house medical doctors and serves as a... show more
preventive health method to detect and manage any diseases before they escalate and trigger a hospitalization incident. After the medical screening, an employer or client-oriented report is prepared that captures the demographic and health profile of the population and the report is shared with the client. Insurance underwriters, or HMI programs worldwide do not currently offer this service.
Preventive Health Workshops NJWO has developed an extensive menu of workshops on a variety of issues related to health and worker welfare issues. These workshops are offered to all beneficiaries free of cost, as part of the Naya Jeevan health plan, and delivered at client site. NJWO has offered these workshops separately to corporate clients following a successful pilot program in 2011 with Proctor & Gamble, in which P&G employed NJWO to deliver 25 workshops on hand hygiene to low-income waiters/servers and restaurant chefs in the upscale restaurant/food and beverage industry.
Access to a Philanthropic Health Rescue Fund One of the unique features of Naya Jeevan is the Philanthropic Health Rescue Fund. The health rescue fund covers uninsurable conditions like birth defects. Naya Jeevan works with NJWO to utilize this fund on a case-by-case basis. show more
