  Like Deep Creek the best. In Bryson City. James Clark owner loans out gooseneck trailers to make the rides. Primitives are Cataloochee, Tow String and Big Creek.

  It depends on what type of riding you do and do you want electric, water or primitive. What size trailer you have? Gilbertson's and Orchard Cove are in Townsend, TN. The trails there are beautiful with very few trails that are narrow with drop offs. Deep Creek Horse Camp in Bryson City, NC is very nice. You will find more trails there that are on the narrower side but a lot of trails to choose from. You have to trailer to get to most of the trails at all of the above mentioned places. Cataloochee Horse Camp in NC is primitive and hard to get into but if you don't mind primitive and you can get in it is beautiful. It is by far my favorite place to go. You will see elk in the campground and occasionally a bear, although I still haven't seen one yet! I think the best time is from Mid May to end of July less of a chance of bees. October is insanely busy at Cataloochee with sightseers due to the elk being in rut.

  Bryson City, NC - Deep Creek Horse Camp - The owner James L. Clark is very nice and accomodating and helpful. Beautiful trails, nice campground! We stayed there for a week in May and really enjoyed it!

  I'd have to agree with you Gregg Mason ! The riding out of Deep Creek in NC was beautiful, with lots of creeks and water falls, but we didn't get to see these beautiful clear mountain tops.

  Vanessa Reynolds Downey next time you are at Deep Creek, trailer over to the trailhead past Fontana Dam and ride to Gregory Bald from the NC side. It's beautiful!

  If you want to see pictures you can go to horsehikers on fb. Remember if you are not in the valley you are going up or down. Deep Creek is nice to There is a privately owned campground in Bryson City (Deep Creek campground) But don't ride Sunkota trail too narrow. The Indian creek motor trail is very nice you can make a loop with the deep creek horse trail. it is about a 13 mile ride.

The places that we have ridden is Fleetwood, Mount Rogers, Love Valley, and Big South Fork.   We just spent a week at Deep Creek Horse Camp and it was wonderful! The owner, James L. Clark was born/raised there so he can map you out trails according to your needs. He was extremely helpful to us as well as the camp host Charles Caldwell. The camground is small and nice, very clean, stalls, dump station, wash for the horses and a bathhouse. It's located in Bryson City, NC. I'll post a link.
