  Looking for a reasonable quiet rental to enjoy nature and unplug for one night for our 10th Anniversary. Not more than a 30-40 minute drive from Cumming. We have such little time alone do not want to spend much time driving but rather enjoying where we are staying. Can be a private level of a house on Lake Lanier, on a river, cabin in the mountains, cottage, bed and breakfast, etc. Access to canoe or kayaks a plus. I've looked on Airbnb and now looking on Vbro. Just seeing if someone on here has particular rental property recommendations. Thanks. :)

  How about your thoughts and recommendations about some classes/training? My father learned blacksmithing at Davis & Elkins college in Elkins WV at the Augusta Heritage Festival. A couple of weeks a year over a few years. I was looking for something similar but closer to where I live in Southeastern NC.

  I'm interested in finding an adult arts retreat that might include needlepoint for me and photography or painting for my adult daughter. Does anyone have any ideas? Kind of like camp, but for grown ups.

  I will second the John C Campbell (folkschool.org) idea. The needlework classes tend more toward surface embroidery with design or color as the main emphasis of the class but there are many, many textile classes. I was there last week and took bobbin lace and there was a surface design class and a class that started at silk cocoons and did felting, knitting, spinning and papermaking with the silk. It is a wonderful place and that was my 13 th class there.

  Investigate John C. Campbell Folk School in Western, NC. It will definitely have the painting or photography but is limited on needle arts and I am not sure they even have needlepoint. It is a great place for a camp-like experience for adults with the focus on learning.

  Hello all. I'm new to basket weaving, I have made 4 from kits (via net purchases) so far. I live in Chattanooga Tennessee and would like to go to a store and LOOK at the supplies. Internet searches for supply stores in and around me are not giving me good results, lots of dead links. I'm willing to go as far as Knoxville or Atlanta too.. Anyone know of a physical store I can browse around in?

  The John C Campbell Folk School is about 2 hours away from Chattanooga in Brasstown NC. Its about 15 or so minutes from Murphy. The gift shop at the school has (or at least they did the last time I was there a couple of years ago) a small selection of reed, books and tools.
