Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
Over three decades of experience, and a plethora of big names to drop , where that experience took place.
From where do you draw your enthusiasm and inspiration for the job?
I have a massive passion for fit. Being a curvy female myself, It so annoys me that people don't invest time in how their clothing fits. Every piece in your wardrobe that doesn't gets tossed back in time and time again. That perfect little LBD, although it could be any colour, just gets worn over and over again. I have one MOB that has worn her dress over a 100 times since her daughter's wedding. Now that's value for money.
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
Pick up the phone! So much can be ascertained in a short call, and maybe if I am not what you are after, my vast knowledge of the industry will lead to a 'you' answer.
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
I treat everyone that comes through my door with exactly the same attention to detail and honesty. I have done celebrity work, but my favourites are those who have the choice to go closer to home, maybe even get the work done for free, but want the individual experience that putting some effort in gets you. Nothing gets done that isn't a journey in this life.
Cost and why
All of my work is timed pro rata. Why?
Dress in today, 'just' a hem! Nah, three seperate tiers with a button band down the centre front. To make sure all the tiers are the same, each will have to be unpicked, as would the button band, shortened and replaced. A good 1.5-2 hour job, not just a hem. Even jeans, if they are overtly long cut and turn, just a smidgen off, hem has to be unpicked and then shortened.
Wedding dresses may take longer than an everyday dress, but prom dresses are just coloured versions.
Why get it fitted?
It makes no odd whether it cost you a £5 or £500, if it doesn't fit properley it will come out of the wardrobe, onto yoyur body, then back into the wardrobe. On average we have about £2500 worth of clothing unworn or worn once in our cupboards.
We expect everything to fit us, it doesn't. So many variations in the human body shape. AND us ladies vary from week to week!
