  Transplant from Indianapolis I'm planning on moving to the Minneapolis area in a couple months and would like some insight on taxes, best neighborhoods to live in for the money and recommendations for movers. Research shows that it's slightly more expensive than Indianapolis where I'm from. Looking into 1 bedroom apartments and like to keep it at $950 or under. My job will be downtown so I don't want to be too far from that. Thank you!

  If you find that city rent is too high, the twin cities have a decent network for suburban commuters. If you can find a place near the Light Rail is expanding a lot and makes for a nice way to get in/out of downtown. Additionally, we have a ton of 'Park & Rides' so it's just a short drive to an express bus that takes you straight to/from downtown. Of course, the caveat to the park and ride is they really only cater the standard 6 am-6 pm commute times, so if you work evenings, it's less convenient.   We always jump on the bus to downtown (you can either walk to the closest bus stop or get dropped off at a park n ride). Check out metrotransit.org. Then ask the bus driver for a transfer when you get one the bus (you can use this on the light rail). Get dropped off on Marquette and 6 th and walk to the light rail to get to the airport. Total cost to get there in peek hours is $3. Been riding the bus to my job DT for years. Let me know if you need help with the bus/light rail schedules. They can be a little confusing.

  Does anyone know why you can't go from northbound Snelling onto 694 east? Isn't that an odd omission of connections? Just curious. 99.9% of the time I'm going to 694 West....yesterday I needed to go East so I went up Snelling....and surprise surprise!

  Ok, I have a dilemma. I need to take Duane to Minneapolis Monday to catch a plane at 9:00am. My daughter in law's plane lands at 3:30pm. I don't really want to go to MOA by myself. The scrapbook store nearby isn't open, so that's out. I don't want to hang at Ikea either. So, for 6 hours....what/where to do/go to kill time? Suggestions?

  You can go anywhere you want from the airport via the Metro Blue Line light rail transit. (Formerly known as the Hiawatha light-rail line.)
