Long shot but I’m looking for tips and tricks to meet like minded people out there and possibly get a tour of the island. Also looking to hire a car whilst there does anybody know the best website/ platform to do so is ? So far I’m getting very expensive quotes for car hire. Many thanks guys

Have a look on https://www.doyouspain.com just make sure you use the options on the left, fuel-full to full, auto or manual, mileage & excess etc. At the top, choice of vehicle etc, people carrier for you. We’ve used them several times and they are hard to beat on price. Although I would recommend having an annual excess policy, do NOT take their excess insurance, it’s very expensive.

Be careful with doyouspain.com. Most of the suppliers will want a hefty deposit, insist that you have a credit card and you have to print and take your confirmation with you. Queues at the depots can take up to 3 hrs in the summer and other companies will deliver your vehicle to the airport. Many of the cheaper headline prices are really false economies.

doyouspain.com avoid Bravo Rent a Car and Choice - they are the cheapest but absolute cowboys, many people including myself had trouble getting deposits back (still haven't had mine returned from over 5 weeks ago). I would recommend Avis/Budget, very helpful and professional for a hire car company in Ibiza. Also I would advise renting for 29 days, then re hiring as for whatever reason, it seems to make it slightly cheaper.

I would like to warn all pleople who want to rent a car from WWW.DOYOUSPAIN.COM !!!!! Be aware of them. I will waste my time to write this story in case to aware you what cheaters they and compay GOLDCAR RENT ARE, because they wasted my 5hours of holidays and gave me contract that i booked with secret details! First of all on WWW.DOYOUSPAIN.COM we found acceptable offer to rent a car from Goldcar rent. We booked it and they offered full insurance for rented car. We took it for 75euros. On booking date we went to goldcar rental place with booking papers thay said, this is not insurance you have take ours!!!!! Come on!!! Then we spent 20min explaining that on their website and on our reservation it is written that it is insurance. They didnt accept that, offered insurance for 190euros and magicly offered 50% discount. We refused to take second insurance from them , so they asked to leave 1200euros deposit, like car would be insured! So if people take insurance from WWW. Doyouspain.com and gold car dont accept then they have to pay deposit like it would be uninsured and if they dont have 1200eur they are forced to take insurance from them!!! Second what happened with these two companies that Goldcar took 120eur for full tank and we have to return car with empty tank. So they charged 2,50eur per liter of diesel!!! If you dont use all tank they will return not all amount. Will give back for that is left in the tank minus fuel suplement 38eur.!!!!! So you just bought diesel for 2,50eur and pay for fuel suplement!!! We asked why it is , they said that we booked that service through www.doyoupain.com. , but there nowhere was asking about this!! They didnt write what prices are for full tank. Goldcar said that better book car direcly though us then we dont charge for tank . u take full and return full tank. And finally they gave us keys!!!! What happened. They said, look car is in prefect conditions, if here will be any scrathes you will pay because you DONT HAVE insurance. (One more time they wanted to try to sell their insurance) when i saw car, i saw a lot of scretches, i wrote on papper what is wrong and took a pictures of them. I told that we have www.doyouspain, it is interesting you are both parters and you dont accept their insutance, you offer your own, offer next time dont use their service and you are working togerther. But why we have to pay for your bad partnership... it was awfull... like laughting at my eyes.. in modern western countries if you would do like this, law would take care of everything. . Here are no rules, no statements, charge what they want, offer discounts like they want.. worst service i ever had... be aware. ..

( Totally against EU law, but when does that ever apply in Spain?!?

There was some minor damage and they took all the €1000 and told me to claim on my excess insurance. They would not supply a damage invoice or any bills to justify taking this amount. Needless to say when I tried to claim the excess back from my insurance company they wouldn't pay as I didn't have any invoices. I never got the money back. This year I hired from Goldcar via DoyouSpain - NO excess. Had to pay upfront for a tank of petrol which was refunded very quickly onto my credit card when returned full. New car and courteous service at the airport.

This means you might still be persuaded to take out additional insurance to cover this (either by DoYouSpain or when you pick up) which is about the same as the previous "excess" insurance. You will still be asked for a deposit to cover the tyres etc. it just means you won't be charged the excess if you have an accident. Some of the hire companies are offering cars for €7-10 a day so they are going to be trying to make their money somehow, whether it's selling you insurance or charging €90 for a tank of fuel.

Your agencys insurance WILL NOT SAVE U FROM LEAVING A BLOCKED DEPOSIT, u will still need to so, and u are responsible for damages, if there are any goldcar charges you and then the agency refunds u. The only way to NOT leave a deposit is by purchasin goldcars own insurance. So my advice, rent the car online using whatever agency u like, pay for the rental cost, and skip on all insurances, when u get to goldcar they will present u their full risk full cover insurance or the deposit option, u choose which one u see fit then.

Ian Robinson if u have insurance with AE what u have is a reinvursment, gold car would still charge YOU for damages meaning u are not covered and then, after a ton of paperwork u have to send AE will refund u whatever goldcar charged u. All the paper work has to be sent in 48 hours after the end of the rental, and u will be refunded in 30-60 days, which means your vacation will still be ruined. This is how all rental agencies online work, if u want actual full protection where u dont have to leave a dime u need to purchase the COMPANYS insurance be it goldcar, avis, hertz or whatever. They own the car. Not autoeruope or doyouspain or rentalcars. Additionally with the AE insurance u still have to leave a deposit. Its always better to just check ur options with the company first, not the agency.

Great cars and straight forward.

I use car hire every month and listen to the number of people complaining at the desk. Main rule about extras are.....the car comes with insurance, however if you do NOT take out the top up they will take approx. 300 euros deposit from your credit card. It will be refunded on return if no damage has been done to the car. Extra insurance is max of 78 euros basically for fully comp. You also have to pay for a full tank of fuel usually approx. 100 euros which is steep I agree! but you return the car empty. My advise is DO NOT TAKE EXTRA INSURANCE ONLINE....it makes no difference to the carhire company....they will still take a deposit because it is not their product. I use DELPASO through Doyouspain and found them to be very helpful and the cars good. Hope that helps? If you find a car company who does not charge any extras please post the company name.

We use Doyouspain. The deals we have had with them have been unbeatable but I haven't tried the other ones mentioned here so I don't know if they are better. It is right that you can wait for 15 mins or so at the desk within the airport but they use various car hire companies so it depends on which one they get you a deal with.Gold car have recently changed their fuel policy so you get a refund on any unused fuel.The most annoying thing with all the hire companies is that they impose an additional cost locally.This is an insurance to cover specific tyre and windscreen damage which is mandatory.This costs 5 euros or so per day or you can leave a 600 euro deposit(which we normally do) which is refundable.Unless you go off road racing the likelihood of this damage is remote.Hope this helps.

I rented all of last year through various car hire companies using doyouspain.com - from Mar until 1 st Dec 3 and 4 week rentals so gor a new car every month basically. I spent in total over the 10 months about €1200 in rentals fees. Bought my own annual insurance policy and just let the car hire companies block my credit card for the deposit each time (which wasn't a bother because that's all I used the card for and it just gets unblocked we the car goes back in one piece). This time last year I had a 4 week hire for €6 total. So if youve got a credit card and don't mind a journey to the airport every 3 to 4 weeks then I'd say do it that way. Worked for me 😊

Well only from my experience hey - I hired from March last year until Dec 3/4 week rentals at a time and never had any problems at all. My March week rental was something stupid like €6.34 total!

Deposit is usually €600 for a small car , more for a larger one, unless you take out the company's own insurance which could be an extra €4/day. The other extra is fuel unless you get a "Full/full " policy , which works out more expensive up front but works out cheaper in the long run . other extras are for extra driver etc. Check out Doyouspain.com where you can compare companies, And look up their terms and conditions.
