  Gas / Electricity Suppliers - recommendations / warn offs.... My current Energy Supply contract comes to an end at the end of October, and I am looking around at alternatives. Have run through a couple of comparison sites, and at the moment my current supplier, Cooperative Energy, is still very competitive, with the exception of one or two odd firms I have never heard of, who also have some dubious reviews, and some insisting on Smart Meters, which I am yet to be convinced of the value of. Has anyone any suggestions of other firms to try, and maybe even to avoid, before I re-sign with coop? N.B. Did try the search facility on this page, but nothing relevant located.

  Hello all, I am looking for an alternative supplier too, I have used OVO for a few years but they recently doubled my monthly payment against my will and they are not answering my emails about it. So this post has been very useful. I have just done a comparison using my actual consumption and the cheapest by £2/month was Scottish Power, then Cooperative, then Ecotricity and then Bulb. The Scottish Power offering is 2 years fixed with no exit fee.

I discovered Co-Op was overcharging the last tenant that lived here when I gave them a reading (as the new tenant)...they were paying projections and not the actual usage amount!   The ones on unfrackme include Ecotricity and Good energy as their top ones and, again, they are the only ones that are entirely green, none of the other are.

  We're going to switch to a green electricity provider at home. We've just moved house, had a photovoltaic system installed, and British Gas will only pay us for 50% of the electricity we generate, rather than for the 75% of what we generate that gets exported to the grid. Anyone had similar experiences, or know of a good green electricity provider? We were going to switch anyway - this just makes it a bit more urgent.

  I'm with Ecotricity (0 g CO2) - if you get them to install a smart meter, they can get it configured to measure your exported electricity and hence get paid the full amount. They have also changed their meter supplier - previously G4S - because customers complained about their human rights issues. See also their Electric Highway for EV. www.ecotricity.co.uk
