  American Expat - Never Filed Taxes & Need Firm Recommendations Hi all, So I realize that I'm not in the best position but want to get myself situated as needed before any issues come up. I'm an American expat in my 30s who left the U.S. in my teens and have only visited a few times since then. I've also only ever worked abroad. While I've completed a FACTA form for my banks, I've never filed taxes. There's a longer family story behind this, but I would like to get myself on the right side of the process this year for peace of mind. Can anyone recommend a CPA/ accountant/ firm that they've had a good experience with? I've looked at a few online but can't tell who is reputable and won't rip me off. Thanks for your insights! Edit: I also want to add that I've never made over $60K. My understanding is that I'll pay to file but won't actually pay taxes. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

[Bright Tax](http://www.brighttax.com) specializes in taxes for US expats. I'm not sure about the investment advisor. I've been putting off investing until I can renounce my US citizenship because it's such a pain in the ass to deal with US taxes as an expat.   I use https://www.greenbacktaxservices.com I couldn't be bothered to figure it out on my own. It was $640 to have them file state and federal returns for me. Highly recommend them too. Great customer service, easy to to share documentation with... works really well.

  potato has good advice here. I'd recommend greenbacktaxservices.com but I believe their base price is $350 and includes a lot of stuff you don't need. (They specialize in expat and int'l tax stuffs) Maybe ask for a consult from them and they can help you out one way or the other.

Anyways, I was going to use them for 2012 filing, but I don't have foreign income ( I have US income but from France, and now Philippines) ...
