Also, look on a weekday. Places are closed or people don’t want to show on a weekend.

The different car rental places are not right next to eachother. You take a free shuttle from LAX to get to the one you want to go to. So if you wanted to shop around, you'd need to take shuttles to LAX each time. Just look online and reserve the car.

I just wish I could remember that website for the guy that started this company, it had to do with traveling and he gets cheap rentals for people all over the world, be it an RV, a private Car vs. A rental car from a rental lot, someone's house to rent, or even a room in their house. It was an awesome idea and they interviewed all the people that rented their stuff out and was helping people supplement their income. Will keep digging to see if I can find it...hold on will go ask dad if he remembers...
