Has anyone used the support of a doula through their pregnancy/labour that's could share their experience? Or recommendations for someone in Canberra?

I'm a doula if you'd like to meet to discuss your needs and my service. My page is www.facebook.com/breathebirthbyamey (where you'll find testimonial reviews from some of my clients). There is also a full listing of Canberra Doulas on www.bellabirth.org.
Hi Canberra mums, can anyone provide recommendations for the best care providers in Canberra/Queanbeyan to take my VBAC journey with? Specifically chiropractors, naturopaths, doulas, acupuncturists and massage therapists? Many, many thanks!

I am currently looking to find a doula to assist me throughout my second pregnancy and labour. I had an emergency csection after a very long labour with my first child and did not have a very good experience with my birthing staff. I am open to a student doula as my budget isn't the largerest. I have looked on the Birth Yurt website but am looking for other options also. Please comment if you or someone you know is a doula or has used one in the past.

Hi - www.bellabirth.org has a listing of Doulas that service Canberra. I'm one of the Birth Yurt student doulas. I've attended four births so far (including a couple of vbacs) and am currently supporting another couple of women through their pregnancies. Birth trauma is very real so you're making the right decision to hire a doula. We can help you work through what happened last time and get you looking forward to this next chapter in your story. Please PM me or email DoulaAmey@gmail.com if you want more information.

bellabirth's list is the most up to date. We are all very friendly and happy to do phone or face to face interviews. Good luck with your search and thank you for supporting us as students! My page Adorabirth has been tagged below.

I'm taking a break from birth work, but if you go to bellabirth.org there are a list of doulas who can support you. I would highly recommend Samantha Slingsby who is studying with Stillbirthday and who I have known all of my adult life.
Hello everyone,
I would like to get some information in regards to two different birth programs at the Canberra hospital. Can you please tell me about your experiences and what advice for choosing a program would you give to a first time mum? Many thanks.
Amey B. replied:
You have a choice between the birth centre (low intervention continuity of care for low risk pregnancies), CATCH Program (continuity of care), and GP shared care (seeing your own GP and whichever midwife is on shift). I would recommend a continuity of care model as it's proven to improve birth outcomes. Also consider hiring a doula for birth preparation and support. You can find a list of all of us on Bellabirth.org
