  Finding an ASL interpreter for online video conferences We have a teen with a profound hearing loss who is doing remote learning (not via a public/private school). Does anyone know how to locate/hire someone willing to be an interpreter for them? She can hear reasonably well with hearing aids in face to face communications but the computer audio is proving difficult and we would like to make sure she can fully participate. Are there any services that do that or is it something some people do as a side gig?

  Www.rid.org you can search for certified interpreters in your area. Don’t get ripped off by an uncertified interpreter. If these are videos, they should be captioned. If it’s live sessions, then an interpreter or Captioner is necessary.

  Arizona commission for the Deaf and Hard of hearing (acdhh.com) read up on what's expected Arizona-wise. Acdhh.org Registry of Interpreters on what to expect nation-wide. rid.org Take ASL classes locally before taking interpreter training classes. Lots of info online. Best of luck!

  why don't they look into access interpreting or cirs interpreting agency- most of them are certified. or look into rid.org. tell them that you want certified interpreter- not freelance one. sorry i wish i knew a good pediatrician in dc. only know a couple in maryland. good luck, brittany!

  Mr. Carter, If you go to our website: www.rid.org - you'll see the search tools on the left hand sidebar. You can click on "Members" - this will take you to our member portal. Enter your zip code, and then in the next box, select the radius for the search. I tried 46011 with a 25 mile radius, and found several interpreters. You'll want to use a certified interpreter (you'll see "Certified" in the Category. Look for these certifications: NAD, CI / CT, CSC, NIC. I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any problems.

  Rodger Dell.. I tried finding him through the Registry of interpreters for the deaf at www.RID.org website, which lists every nationally certified interpreter in the United States. This person is not listed. I was searching for him because I am nationally certified and working in the courtrooms, and I wondered why I've never heard of this gentleman.

  Do what I did...go to rid.org website and put in your state, select certified interpreters and send an email blast to each one requesting their service. But I also contacted Sign Language Resources and they were able to help me with mentors for my practicum.
