Jessica asks, "I am hoping someone might recommend a good "peaceful parenting friendly" pediatrician in the Northern Virginia area?" | Intact NoVa | Intact Virginia |...

Kerrie Bergan Newbrough?
Kerrie N. replied:
I don't really have any recommendations....we haven't found anyone that I love, but since we don't need to go that often, it's been okay. It helps that my kids are older and with older kids, they don't tend to ask as many parenting questions. Jessica, are you in the API of NOva group on yahoo? I've seen recommendations there...I think Whole Child Pediatrics in Ashburn has been talked about a few times, but depending where you are in NoVA, that might be a haul.
Amanda C. replied:
I also love Whole Child Peds! They are also good with non-vaxing (although some of the nurse practitioners will stare at you..). But I think they will only take your child on if they've been seeing them since they were a newborn because their load is SO big. Their wait time once you get into the office is incredibly long, but I do love all the doctors there (especially Dr. Bunger).
Dallas G. replied:
Irving Hwang at South Riding Family Medicine has accepted our homebirthing, extended breastfeeding, and delayed vaxes, but I wouldn't say he advocates any of it--but he doesn't argue or make me feel like I'm making the wrong decisions either. Maybe the OP could be more specific with location?
Lauren H. replied:
We've loved Dr Matt Irwin, in Alexandria. He is a homeopath as well as an MD. Very comfortable with homebirth (our first visit after birth was actually a home visit!), and he is comfortable with both delayed vac and no vac.
Intact N. replied:
I have heard good things about ALL Pediatrics. My children don't see a pedi on the regular, but if one gets sick I have planned to take them to Dr. Thomas Sullivan because he's intact friendly also! http://www.allpeds.com/dr-thomas-sullivan.php
Rachel S. replied:
If Ashburn isn't too far (sorry Heather) we've had good experiences with Whole Child Pediatrics. They're ok with our Non-Vaxing.I think there are a few closer to DC... let me check some sources.

Here's a rec for Springfield, VA: Huntsman Medical Center 7489 Huntsman Blvd. Springfield, Virginia 22153 Phone (703) 440-0107http://www.huntsmanmedicalcenter.com/ He's homebirth, delayed vax, intact boy, breastfeeding friendly.
Tricia C. replied:
oops....Dr. Stacey Staats, 703-503-9100, 5212 Lyngate, 22015. We are delayed vax, homebirth, and extended breastfeeding. We switched to this practice just over a year ago prior to my daughter turning two and have been happy with her. I am expecting my 2 nd in less than a month and she is aware of and accepting of our "non main stream choices." There are two other Drs. in the practice. I have not seen either one, one is brand new to the practice. I have never had an issue getting to see Dr. Staats. They have very flexible hours including weekends and holidays.:)
Christina W. replied:
Another recommendation for Whole Child Pediatrics in Ashburn. Dr. Bunger is wonderful. Very knowledgeable about intact penises as her sons were left intact!
I know I've asked this before, but with everything going on, I need to ask again. Looking for a great pediatrician in Manassas area. Who do you know?

I love Dr. Susan Campbell pine grove pediatrics
Diane W. replied:
I'm going to check my insurance and narrow it down to Anastasia Williams, Robin Brodie, & Wendy Aults groups. It will depend on their hours and if they take my insurance. Thank you all for the suggestions.
Kelly E. replied:
We used Pine Grove Peds. Dr. Brodie (ok) Dr. Campbell
Kim P. replied:
I left Dr. Ault to go to Pinegrove. Dr. Ault was my pediatrician and both Campbell & Brodie started with her. We left because we could never get an appointment. Lots of Medicaid. Although...that was 15 years ago. Good luck!
Jennifer W. replied:
Diane L Walker if you decide to go with Manassas pediatrics, Dr. Flynn is my favorite one there, as well as lots of my friends favorite. I think Jessica Walker loves her too.

If for some reason Kidz Docs doesn't work for you, we're very happy with Pediatric Associates of Alexandria. But Kidz Docs is much more convenient to JM.

I like Dr. Shen and Dr. Russell. But they are all pretty good.

I live in Old Town and have been happy with Children's Medical Associates (CMA) for my 3-month-old son, although it's not the most convenient location since they're past Landmark Mall:/ For pediatric chiropractor I recommend Dr. Shara Posner in Old Town (Back To Health Center). For me, I get acupuncture and chiro at Skyline Wellness: Alexandria and get my hair cut at Lorraine Aprile Salon (nice discount for first-time customers). Welcome to Old Town!!!:)

Agreed...Pediatrics Associates of Alexandria, they are very close to you guys and a wonderful practice. I was "that mom" at the beginning and had them on speed dial, they were nothing short of patient, informative and didn't make me feel like I was a whack job..lol. Never a problem getting an appt. or a call back.
