When we were visiting my Mom-In-Law in MO, Arthur Bryant's (BBQ chain for those not in the know) had sausage sandwiches that were made outta big fat smoked sausages that were then sliced and put on a bun instead of just sticking a whole 1inch'ish diameter brat or the like on a bun.   Only place that comes to mind is Malabar Super Spice in Burlington, but I'm not sure they sell retail quantities. Butcher-packer.Com sells it freeze dried and ships.
