  In the days after the storms that flooded Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, the real estate informs us we failed an inspection due to a small amount of dog hair on the floors. Our dog was kept outside whenever possible, and in the laundry in other circumstances. The house had been swept and vacuumed regularly, yet the fine print they have issued us with is "keep the house reasonably clean" Where does the reasonably lie here?

  Hi Christopher, a tenant has an obligation to keep their premises reasonably clean. I would suggest calling your local Tenants Advice and Advocacy service to discuss the interpretation of "reasonably clean" and your best course of action.   Hi Christina - from what we know of the way HNSW handles this sort of thing, the 'criteria' should be based on the information you provided when you asked for a transfer. But HNSW might consider these properties unsuitable for any number of reasons - the 'does not meet your criteria' response doesn't sound very helpful. This is something you might speak to your local experts about - you can find the contact and availability details for your local Tenants' Advice & Advocacy Service (TAAS) at www.tenants.org.au. Advice from a TAAS is free - and if they can't assist in this matter directly, chances are they will know someone who can. All the best with it.
