Can anyone recommend dog training classes? We have a 7 month old red heeler and he has horrible separation anxiety. He cries and barks and bites and scratches when in his crate during the day. Looking for a trainer or anything that will help. Thank you!

Looking for good dog training in the area. We have already checked into Woof Beach but it seems that there is no weekly classes it is just a more intensive program. Also checked into DePaw university, but they do not have anything until the end of January. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi all!
We are looking for a reasonably priced dog training program for our rescue dog. I have heard good things about Woof Beach but when I called, they would not give me a price saying I had to come in for an evaluation before they could determine a cost. Made me think they did not want to scare folks away with a crazy high price over the phone. Our girl is in need of some basic obedience training.. nothing extensive and she has no concerning behaviors.
I called Petco and Petsmart but the dates/times won't work for us.
Any thoughts/ ideas? TIA!!

Woof beach family here and very happy with our training. We were fairly happy with Fox valley dog training club( which we did when our boys were puppies) at the fairgrounds for basic obedience but found that our dogs would only listen to us if we had a treat. I need them to listen to me all the time not just when I'm bribing them. Just something to keep in mind.

Fox Valley Dog Training Club. Trains at Kane County Fairgrounds. Kanosak Canine Training in Maple Park. Both have websites and Facebook pages.
I know I've asked this before, but I cannot find my initial post. I'm looking for dog trainers in the area to work with our new German Shepherd puppy. I am not interested in Woof Beach or facilities that use shock collars. Please spare the "Google it" comments as I prefer to hear from pet lovers directly. Thank you in advance.

I'm going to be trying the Fox Valley Dog Training Club that meets at the Kane County Fair Grounds. My neighbors highly recommended it. Not sure what techniques they use. The classes are 1-1/2 months long and cost $95. http://www.fvdtc.org

David Thornell is the best! He worked with my mastiff and did not use a collar! He does private lessons as well as group classes through Fox Valley Dog Training Club. David Thornell

Hi! Does anyone know of a good puppy/dog trainer in the area? We will be getting a puppy in about a month and would like to get her started real soon. We could probably get our current dog in to work on a few things beforehand. We are not interested in Petsmart or Petco. We also don't want to work with someone who likes to use choke collars. Thanks in advance

I am currently training my 6 month old puppy at the Fox Valley Dog Training Club at the fairgrounds and really like it. It's very reasonably priced and a great way to get started in training. I'm in a beginner class which is for dogs over 5 months but I wish I would have done the puppy class.
Anyone know a great dog trainer in STC or surrounding cities? We have a 4 month old German Shepherd we want to get into dog shows / agility with him. I've heard the Fox Valley Kennel Club (I think that's what it's called) but I'm not sure yet! Any recommendations would be great!

The Fox Valley Dog Training Club should be one of your first stops. A lot of very involved people there... They're on Facebook, too. http://www.fvdtc.org/
Any recommendations on dog trainers for a decent price? I'm in Aurora but willing to drive a little bit. I certified my dog as my support animal and he's generally very calm but needs some extra training when it comes to not trying to greet everyone he sees. I plan on bringing him almost everywhere with me so I would like for him to lay at my feet without getting distracted and getting up. He's a 7 month Anatolian Shepherd and knows basic commands. Just need some further training! Thanks!

Question: where did you certify him as a service dog? We go to Fox Valley Dog Training that meets on Thursdays at Kane County Fairground. My dog is an alert & ambulatory SD. www.fvdtc.org
