  Does anybody know what they are quoting to replace the polybutylene pipes in the units? I just had a pipe puncture and ruin a wall.

  Polybutylene Plumbing causing interior water leaks within Community Polybutylene is a form of plastic resin that was used extensively in the manufacture of water supply piping from 1978 until 1995. When Silver Valley was built, Polybutylene was used. From what we have learned, it is believed that chemicals within the public water supply, such as chlorine, react with the Polybutylene piping and fittings causing them to become brittle. Micro-fractures (small cracks) result, and the pipe becomes weak and fails without warning. In the last two weeks, the Association has received multiple reports of the pipes breaking causing interior water damage to the home. Some homeowners have proactively had their interior plumbing pipes replaced with Copper or Uponor Aqua Plex pipe. This expense we are told ranges from $4000.00 to $6000.00 per home. A few homeowners have approached the association with the desire to form a group of Silver Valley Residents who are interested in replacing the pipe in their homes. If a group is formed, the pricing of each installation will be discounted. If you are interested in potentially replacing your Polybutylene pipes, please call ACM at 303-233-4646.
