Jennifer P. asked:Good Morning All, I am looking for advice for an acquaintance who is not on FB. She pulled her son out of ps in February due to some bullying issues as well as her feelings that her son was not getting an adequate education as he has some reading comprehension problems and some attention issues. He was diagnosed with ADHD in grade school but he is not medicated and his issues are mild. Anyhow, she has asked for suggestions on where to start as far as placement for her son and curriculum. I use a mix and have been doing so for years so I am not really able to guide her on where to start (how to test for placement, etc.) with an upcoming tenth grader. We worked our way into it and she feels like she is diving in and that her son is "way behind" where he should be. He lacks writing skills of a basic nature (grammar, getting started, etc.) and he was doing "okay" in basic algebra but hated it. She is also nervous about how to deal with a high school transcript so that her son will be able to go on to college when the time comes. Does anyone have any suggestions I can pass on to this nervous mama? I told her I would ask on the groups I belong to and forward her the results.
