About us

Cha Guan Tea Shop first opened in 2010 at 400 Main St in La Crosse. It is now called the Dim Sum Tea Shop and in 2012 moved to its current location at 221 Pearl St, in La Crosse. We have over 100 loose leaf teas for purchase or you can sit down and have a cup or pot. We also offer other beverage selections and small portion food for dine in or carry out. Teaware & gifts are available for purchase.

We originally wanted to order delivery from China Star but couldn't get through on the phone - either got a busy signal or no answer. I went online and Hunan seems to be the best rated Chinese place in town according to Yelp and Urbanspoon, and it had been year's since I've been there, so it sounded like worth a try. Our food was good. Excellent pot stickers. I originally tried ordering Fragrant Lamb. It's not on the menu, but they offer a variety of lamb dishes and a variety of Fragrant dishes, so I figured they could whip it up for me. The server went back to the kitchen with our order and came back to say the cook couldn't make Fragrant Lamb... Not sure what that means... Do they heat up pre-made frozen portions? The food was good otherwise. They really could use to have someone come in and do some decorating for them. I felt like I was in a cafeteria with fish bowls on the walls. And there was Italian music playing most of the time we were there. What are others thoughts on Hunan Chinese Restaurant? Where do you go for Chinese food in the La Crosse area?

Have you been to the Dim Sum Tea Shop on Pearl Street? Dim Sum is the Chinese version of tapas...smaller bites to share. I love their Shrimp Wonton Soup and veggie dumplings- it is delicious Chinese food that you can feel good about eating. China Star tastes good but I never feel like I'm doing myself a favor when eating it. If you do check out the Dim Sum Tea Shop, give yourself plenty of time.
