  Does anyone have a dry kibble to recommend that does not have poultry in it? I'm using Blue Buffalo lamb & rice, but the vet says it might be too rich for her diet which is causing some problems - she loves it, but I'm trying to find something else she'll eat -- any suggestions?? she can't seem to digest poultry very well.

  Rice ,may be nice if the dog has a food allergy and you are trying to eliminate possible suspects, but nothing beats fresh meats and fresh vegetables, preferably raw but even lightly cooked. Grains in general are not needed in a dog's diet, with limited exceptions. We add grains if we are trying to put some weight on a dog, but not for a normal diet. The Orijen White Paper "The Biologically Appropriate Food Concept and the Dietary Needs of Dogs and Cats" (http://files.championpetfoods.com/ORIJEN_White_Paper.pdf) states: (on page 5) "Feeding dogs as though they were omnivores or herbivores makes the pancreas work harder in order to digest the carbohydrate-filled foods (instead of just producing normal amounts of the enzymes needed to digest proteins and fats); and (on page 16) "while protein is essential and cannot be oversupplied, your dog or cat has absolutely no requirement for carbohydrate."
