  Van-cafe.com and GoWesty.com offers such services. You can also get it repaired at any speedometer shop. If you are handy, it's a simple matter of putting the gear back in the spindle to get it working again. I'll try to get you some pics if you want to try to do this yourself. BenT

I opened it the other day to replace the bulb and found it full of rust-water, and pretty much all the parts were completely rusted. (Just got the van and still finding all the little problems.) I looked at Go Westy and Bus Depot, and I'm sure they both carry it but I couldn't find it. Would love a part name or part number. ;)

  Does anyone have a GOOD used ignition distributor from a 1980-1983 CA Vanagon or from a 1983-1985 1.9 WBX? I don't care about the cap and rotor. Electronic ignition must be good and cutter wheel must not be loose on the shaft. Mechanical advance shaft must twist and not be stuck. If you can test the vacuum advance so it works properly that would be great. I have a customers Vanagon here that the insides have wore out an fallen apart.

  Water Pump Failing - Okay to buy replacement from a box store (O'Reillys, Autozone, etc)?? If not, I'm in Seattle - can you recommend any places to get a good one? 1985 2WD tin-top w/ 1.9L Out exploring this weekend and missed the turn off for a Forest Service Road. Hopped out to talk about the plan with my buddy, and just happened to notice some droplets coming off of the oil pan at a very consistent rate. On further inspection, the seals had failed and the bearing was going. Loosened the belt and risk the 4 hour/150 mile drive home, but we made it. Now I just need to get the part and throw it in as Big Blue is also my daily driver. Thanks!!
