Hi there! I recently moved to Northport, AL from out of state and I've noticed that there are a lot of feral cats in my community. I've started reading up on TNR programs and I hope to start trapping in February. I have a few questions though:
1: The only vet I've found that does the clinics is in Irondale, which appears to be about an hour away. Does anyone know of any closer vets?
2: I've seen a couple of cats with parts of their ears missing but I'm not sure how to tell if it's an actual TNR tip or just a piece missing from a fight or something. I just watched the "Life on the Streets" video below and now know that they tip on the left ear so I will try to pay attention when I see them again as to which ears are notched. Does the official TNR tip have a certain look to it? Or do they just take a hunk out?
3: I thought that I'd mail letters to people in the neighborhood alerting them to my plans and to see who else is feeding them (or neutering them, hopefully). I'm not sure what kind of response I'm going to get so I'm also wondering to what degree I'm obligated to find out if a cat actually belongs to someone who just lets them roam about.
Thanks for adding my to your group!
