  We are thinking of doing Rhodes in late September. Is it a good time to visit? We will have approximately a week. We want to enjoy a beach that is accessible by walking and need a base to explore the island without driving. Where would be a good place to stay: Lindos, Faliraki, Ialyssos? I'll appreciate your recommendations.

  If you want to explore the island using public transportation then the best place to be is Rhodes town. I would suggest staying in one of the hotels in the new town on or a block from the beach. But it is more like being on the Riviera than being on a quiet Greek island. Rhodes town is a city. See www.greecetravel.com/rhodes
